Motorhome Holidays: Everything You Need To Know

How would you like to make your staycation dreams a reality? With Abacus Motorhomes, those dreams are much more achievable than you may think.

So don’t worry if this is your first time travelling in a motorhome! We’ve got everything you need to know to make your staycation a success - starting with travelling with ease and in luxury.

Plus for added ease, we’ve broken down everything you need to know into four fundamentals - let’s jump right in!

Planning

Every great trip starts with great planning - how else are you going to find the perfect destination? There are literally thousands of great stops across the country! With the right planning you’ll find the right one for you and your family or you and your friends, we’ve got motorhomes for all.

As with anything, it’s always best to prebook. This prevents additional stress in the journey, and ensures you have the right facilities to accommodate your group. Our showroom in Andover is situated right next to the A303, giving easy, direct access across the South and the perfect spot to start your journey!

Packing

Destination, check! Now, what are you going to bring?

Unlike most other motorhome hire companies, we include a number of extras that we believe are essential to your motorhome holiday experience - up to £250 worth of essential extras free! Don’t forget to check out the full list on our website, plus even more optional extras for an added price…

Pack light to maximise the space. You should bring your own towels and bedding - we can supply these as well (at an extra charge), and never forget the required paperwork for your motorhome!

Parking (and driving)

Now that you’re packed and ready to go, let’s hit the road!

Driving and parking in a larger vehicle means you will need to give more time and space for everything. Always consider the extra length and weight of the motorhome - slower speed limits, earlier braking, taking corners wider.

Parking has been made easy with the motorhome’s well placed mirrors, but it’s always a good idea to ask a passenger to assist you, guiding you through the manoeuvre. Be aware of car park height barriers, and do not leave it parked in a place that is going to cause an obstruction.

Pitching

Finally, which spot are you going to take at the camp?

If you have the choice, then don’t settle! Do you want to be near amenities? If you have children, would you like to be near a play area? Try to make the most of the area, choosing flat ground so you don’t have to use ramps, and avoiding trees that will drip onto your motorhome.

So there you have it! Everything you need to know for your upcoming motorhome holiday. But don’t forget the most important part of all - enjoy yourselves! It’s a great way to explore the country in style, comfort and luxury, so having fun is the most important part!

We can’t wait to see where your next adventure will take you!
