The Story of Abacus Motorhomes

Upon the completion of some exciting new features here at Abacus Motorhomes HQ, we want to take you on the journey of how we’ve gotten to where we are today! 

Did you know that Abacus Motorhomes once looked very different than it does today? We’ve come a long way since dipping our toes in the water and expanding into motorhome hire to run alongside our already established vehicle hire business. So in 2005, we purchased our first 4 motorhomes for the season ahead. 

The story behind Abacus Motorhomes is a simple one, but one that has led to the exciting position we are in today! It all started when David Wolfenden wanted to hire a motorhome himself, but couldn’t believe the number of extras that you had to pay for, and the limited number of companies offering an all-inclusive service… This is really where our hire journey began! 

We’ve gone from strength to strength, to the place we’re at today creating industry firsts and building on our position as The Motorhome Company. 

2018

This year saw some important technical improvements, which meant our business became more independent altogether! Our hire team undertook months of specialist training that enabled them to modify and upgrade our entire range of vehicles within our rental fleet. This had huge benefits for both our team and our customers. 

This meant we were able to carry out frequent habitation checks in addition to servicing to ensure that each motorhome is kept to a high standard and that the resale value after a few years remains high! 

We also hit 50 plus motorhomes, with 3 motorhome manufacturers on our hire fleet. This meant we were able to offer various layouts and styles to our customers. 

2021 

Perhaps the most exciting year to date - we moved into our brand new, state-of-the-art premises! This 2.5acre site includes our showroom, servicing workshops and an industry-first indoor drive-through collection and drop-off facility. Less than 0.5 miles from our previous home, this new site offers the very best in motorhome sales, servicing and hire! 

2022

Now we’re up to date on our story, this brings us to our latest, exciting update… Our brand new wash bay! 

This wash bay is fully undercover, offering the latest in cleaning techniques. The fully heated and air-conditioned preparation bay gives the best working environment for our highly trained operatives. Not only can we cater for our own fleet, but this means we can offer a service to customers who can have their car cleaned whilst away on their holidays! 

As a company, Abacus has been established for over 30 years and built a reputation for outstanding customer service and great value across all aspects of our business. Abacus Motorhomes is no exception to the trusted, excellent service we offer to our valued customers!
