Which Motorhome Should You Buy?

With so many options available, buying a new motorhome, or the overall motorhome sales process, can be a bit overwhelming.

Here at Abacus Motorhomes, we want to help minimise the confusion and uncertainty, and take you on a motorhome sales journey that you can get excited about!

Choosing a motorhome depends on several factors, such as your budget, intended use, size requirements, travel use, and the features that you prioritise in the vehicle. Luckily for you, we have a wide range of motorhomes, with something available for everyone’s needs and requirements.

So if you’re looking to invest in a new motorhome for sale, you’re in the right place. Today we’re going to be taking you through the different shapes, sizes, and types of motorhomes for sale, and help you on the right track in deciding which motorhome to buy.

Campervans and panel van conversions

Campervans are compact and versatile, often with little exterior modifications compared to some of the bigger types of motorhomes. They are usually based on vans such as the VW Transporter or Ford Transit, which makes them easier to drive on some of the narrower roads you’ll come across in the UK countryside.

The downside is that a smaller vehicle does mean more limited space, and fewer amenities than you’ll find in some bigger models.

Overall, these campervans are perfect for couples or solo travellers, looking to take short breaks and weekend getaways, and prefer a more minimalist approach to flexible travel.

Coachbuilt and overcab motorhomes

These motorhomes have been built using a pre-existing cab and chassis, and then built the motorhome up onto the framework. These are some of the most popular motorhome options within the UK, offering a great balance of space and amenities available. With these models, you’ll often find an additional bed above the driver’s cab, utilising all the space in the vehicle.

However, more space can make the overall vehicle more bulky and challenging to drive/park, with lower fuel efficiency.

Coachbuilt motorhomes are a great option for families, and for those that are looking to adventure with more space and comfort on the road.

A-class motorhomes

These are the largest types of motorhome, and are often considered the most luxurious. This is due to their spacious interior, large windows with panoramic views, and all the amenities you can think of - making them ideal for long-term travel.

On the other hand, the increased space and size can make them more expensive, more intimidating to drive and manoeuvre, and less fuel efficient.

If you have a larger family, or are looking to make the most of motorhome travel with maximum comfort and space, an A-class may be the option for you.
